Fr. Delaere Knights of  Columbus Council is an active organization of St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic  Parish in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. Instituted on October 8, 1961, Fr. Delaere  Council was the first Ukrainian Catholic Council in Saskatchewan. The council  with a current membership of over 114 serves Church, State and community in a  true spirit of Unity, Charity, Fraternity and Patriotism                      Fr. Delaere is a very  active council, having hosted numerous State events such as curling, bowling  and State Conventions. A right arm of the church, council has engaged in such  projects as air conditioning and a ramp for the church, carpeting of the church  steps, initial and continued contributions to St. Mary’s Cultural Centre,  support of St. Michael’s Camp and a $100,000 contribution to Yorkton Catholic  Schools. As Knights it is our duty to work for God by living a self disciplined  life style, obeying the laws of the Church, the Country and the community.  Current Grand Knight is Steve Popowich  (Phone  # 783-5441). Practicing Catholic gentlemen, age 18 and over, are most welcome  to join the Council. Meetings are held the first Monday of each month,  beginning at 7:00 P.M. at the Council chambers at St. Mary’s Cultural Centre.  Please feel free to pick up a copy of the "Delaerean" monthly  publication as you visit St Mary's Church. As Knights it is our duty to work  for God by living a self disciplined lifestyle, obeying the laws of the Church,  the country and the community. The Council also supports both the local and  larger community through a variety of charitable works. Meals on wheels are  delivered every Monday by our volunteers. Council Membership is now 114  members. Our fundraisers at this time are bingo, Charity Appeal ticket sales  and Breakfasts. This year the breakfasts have served as an opportunity to  recognize our Priests. We have provided 1 yearly seminarian scholarship &  Graduation Scholarships for local students. We have donated to Habitat for Humanity  fund. We hosted the Insurance Agent, The District Deputy and the Priests of the  Redemptorist community at a “wine and cheese social”. A memorial service for  K.C. deceased members was held in November. A nativity Display was erected in  December. We provide funds to School and summer camps. Donations also provided  to St. Mary’s Cultural center, Welcome Home in Winnipeg, Ukraine aid, St  Alphonsus School, St Mary’s lunch program, Dream builders, Senior Mobility car  program, Culture of life fund and Gifts to Priests and Religious. We also have  Divine Liturgies for deceased members and Families.
